Québec City, March 17, 2026 – A concert suspends time… just long enough for borders to disappear, for globetrotting performers to make a stop in Québec, for the pace of life to slow, and for audiences and musicians to share a moment together.

This is your chance to appreciate the outstanding artistic personalities and the wealth of repertoire that the Club musical de Québec is proud to present for its 135th season. One of the jewels in the city’s crown, the Club offers outstanding musical experiences that bring people together in events that are worthy of the world’s greatest cities of culture.

The concerts open a window onto the world while enriching and enhancing Québec City’s musical life. They offer a dialogue between eras and between aesthetic viewpoints and sensibilities, mixing virtuoso performances, colour and poetry, presented by rising stars and established legends of the international music scene. Audiences enjoy a unique approach to musical programming that combines the familiar with the unexpected.

James Ehnes, violin

Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.

To mark his 50th birthday, James Ehnes is travelling across Canada to meet audiences from Victoria to Iqaluit. Accompanied by pianist Andrew Armstrong, a long-standing partner, this iconic, world-renowned violinist will offer a concert in his own image, combining elegance with virtuosity.

Bruce Liu, piano

Friday, October 16, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.

The first appearance in Québec City of Montreal pianist Bruce Liu, winner of the first prize at the prestigious 2021 International Chopin Piano Competition, is a long-awaited event. It is part of a major North American tour for this new star, who has put together a captivating exploration of night-time shades.

Jean Rondeau, harpsichord

Monday, November 16, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.

Jean Rondeau takes us back to centuries past in a program that pays homage to Louis Couperin, on the 400th anniversary of his birth, and his successors. Rondeau is an inventive and communicative French harpsichord virtuoso who will share his vision in a luminous exploration taking us to the heart of the French baroque period.

Benjamin Appl, baritone

Ksenija Sidorova, accordion

Thursday, March 4, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.

From: Germany and Latvia

Benjamin Appl and Ksenija Sidorova come together in an unusual duo formation to recount the human lifecycle through song. The singer’s warm baritone voice will be heard against the colours of the accordion in a moving program, featuring timeless texts set to music by an eclectic range of composers. This is a unique event featuring captivating performers.

Dover Quartet, string quartet

Monday, March 29, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.

Concert partner: Groupe Canimex

The Dover Quartet is making a single stop in Canada to present its exploration of the Nordic romantic landscapes depicted by Grieg, Sibelius and Brahms. This is a not-to-be-missed appearance by an American ensemble that is widely acclaimed and has been named by the BBC Music Magazine as one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years.

Concerto Italiano, baroque ensemble

Sunday, May 9, 2027 at 3 p.m.

Concerto Italiano and its founder, Rinaldo Alessandrini, pay homage to Johann Sebastian Bach in an orchestral program combining original works and transcriptions. This Italian ensemble has been a worldwide reference in Baroque repertoire for over 40 years, and its fresh yet rigorous communicative vision will provide a fittingly grandiose conclusion to the season.

presented at the concert venue before each performance.

Masterclasses

Some of our performers offer masterclasses thanks to support received from the City of Québec. More information is posted online in the weeks leading up to each concert.

Advantages for younger audience members

At each recital with an intermission, young people aged 6 to 16 and accompanying adults are invited to a specially reserved room where they can spend an enjoyable moment with volunteers. Snacks are available, along with a random draw offering a chance to go onstage at the end of the concert to present a bouquet to the guest artists!

Subscriptions and tickets

The subscription covers all six concerts, presented in the Raoul-Jobin concert hall at Palais Montcalm. Prices for these six outstanding events range from $100 for the under-30s to $400 for general subscribers, with intermediate prices for various locations within the hall. Subscriptions offer a discount of up to 35% on the regular ticket price. The Club Musical website offers various ways to ensure that you get the best possible seats. Subscriptions and tickets for individual concerts will be available from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. Current subscribers are guaranteed a place until May 9.
