Montréal, March 30th, 2026 – The Mécénat Musica program announced today that it has reached $125,000,000 of permanent capital for Québec cultural organizations, plus $30,000,000 of distributions of investment income to 90 Québec cultural organizations since 2015. More than 800 large donations from individuals and families have created $125,000,000 of permanent capital, which will now generate $6,000,000 in revenue annually (5%) for Québec culture to ensure autonomy and financial security, both now and for generations to come.

These Quebec cultural organizations employ more than 5,000 artists annually, with organizations in music, festivals, theatre, museums, visual arts and dance; in the regions of Montréal, Montérégie, Capitale-Nationale, Laval, Laurentides, Lanaudière, Chaudière-Appalaches, Centre-du-Québec and Gaspésie. Thank you! to the three collaborating community foundations: the Foundation of Greater Montreal, the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal and Fondation Québec Philanthrope, who administer the Mécénat Musica program.
Mécénat Musica thanks with great appreciation Mécénat Musica Donors in Residence Dr. Sharon Azrieli CQ, interprète, whose leadership and collaboration resulted in over 50 Mécénat Musica major donors for 23 cultural organizations from 2016 to 2026, and Jacques Marchand and Marie-Christine Tremblay whose leadership and collaboration resulted in over 100 Mécénat Musica major donors for 24 Québec cultural organizations from 2019 to 2026.
Mécénat Musica also thanks the individuals and families who gave more than 800 major donations making the $125,000,000 possible, with their major donations of $25,000, $250,000 or $2,500,000: 42 members of the Order of Canada, 28 members of Ordre national du Québec, 173 entrepreneurs/business, 150 retirees, 135 board members of cultural organizations, 90 musicians/artists, 68 health professionals, 64 investment managers, 51 accountants, 46 lawyers,45 artistic directors, 39 professors/teachers, 37 engineers, and 80 families where 2 to 7 family members each donated $25,000. Mécénat Musica donors thank Revenue Quebec for the additional tax credit for individuals for a once in a lifetime large cultural donation of $25,000 and the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec for the Mécénat Placements Culture endowment matching program.
Mécénat Musica is a unique cultural program created by donors for donors to create permanent capital for Québec cultural organizations to ensure their autonomy and financial security, keeping Québec culture healthy both now and for generations to come. Mécénat Musica encourages individuals to make an in-perpetuity donation of $25,000 to a cultural organization important to them (net cost after tax as low as $5,425 A) and encourages philanthropic families to match these individuals’ donations with donations of $250,000 or $2,500,000. This is a major shift in cultural philanthropy. Mécénat Musica has generated more than $11 million per year in permanent capital for 11 consecutive years.
