Bourgie Hall Celebrates 15th Season

Montreal, August 21, 2025 – Bourgie Hall is opening its doors wide with more than 100 events featuring masterpieces from the repertoire, daring creations, and interdisciplinary encounters. In the preseason, on September 24, 2025, audiences will discover Les veilleuses, an artistic experience that combines music and dance and sets the tone for a rich program. The official start of the season will be on October 2, 2025, with internationally renowned pianist Leif Ove Andsnes. Conceived by artistic director Olivier Godin and executive director Caroline Louis, this new program highlights more than four centuries of repertoire, including contemporary creations, crossing styles, eras, and cultures. On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, on September 30, 2025, Bourgie Hall will host the world premiere of an exclusive preview of The Miss Chief Cycle, the new opera in development by internationally renowned Cree artist Kent Monkman. Composed by Dustin Peters, with a libretto by Gisèle Gordon based on The Memoirs of Miss Chief Eagle Testickle, by Kent Monkman and Gisèle Gordon, this opera is a co-production of Kent Monkman Studio and Bourgie Hall, in collaboration with the MBAM and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.

This season marks Year 2 of Complete Schubert Lieder, featuring a dozen great vocal soloists and, for the first time, a collaboration with Danse Danse for two evenings dedicated to the Viennese master. Highlights include: Wolfgang Holzmair (baritone) and Olivier Godin (piano) will perform the iconic Winterreise on October 30, 2025, during the baritone’s last-ever concert in Canada; Andrè Schuen (baritone) and Daniel Heide (piano) will perform lieder inspired by nature, love, hope, and pain on March 15, 2026, while Samuel Hasselhorn (baritone) and Ammiel Bushakevitz (piano) will perform Die schöne Müllerin on April 14, 2026.

The Outstanding Pianists Series features performances by Víkingur Ólafsson and Leif Ove Andsnes, among others, and includes, for the first time, a Piano Week in November, inaugurated by the talented Beatrice RanaArtist-in-residence Kristian Bezuidenhout will highlight Bourgie Hall’s collection of historical keyboards during three events in October: a concert on October 15, 2025, in collaboration with the Consone Quartet, exploring Viennese classicism; A Schubert evening with the legendary mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter on October 16, 2025; and a program of 19th-century works, A History of the Piano, on October 19, 2025.

Focusing on chamber music and larger ensembles, the season offers manyhighlights, including: the Tetzlaff–Tetzlaff–Dörken Trio on October 22, 2025, Esmé Quartet on November 2, 2025, Escher Quartet and Terrence Wilson on December 10, 2025, and Tabea Zimmermann and Javier Perianes on March 18, 2026. Audiences can also look forward to performances by long-time collaborators of Bourgie Hall, such as Les Violons du Roy and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, who will present programs showcasing their remarkable artists and distinguished guests.

The Jazz 5 à 7 Series also features many must-see acts, including Trio Ariane Racicot on September 25, 2025, and Jazzlab Orchestra on November 13, 2025. Music from Here and Abroad will take center stage thanks to Lapelúda – Entre cielo y tierra on October 3, 2025. A Charlie Brown Christmas returns on December 17 and 18.

Still deeply rooted in its community, Bourgie Hall continues its outreach and educational initiatives: master classes open to the public and conferences related to the concerts build bridges between artists, works, and all audiences.
