Canadian bass-baritone Nathan Berg and pianist Michael McMahon were the first artists to be produced in our artistic programming. This event presented on October 25, 1998 at McGill University’s Redpath Hall offered an ambitious program that brought together two cycles of songs by Robert Schumann: Dichterliebe (op. 48) and Liederkreis (op. 39). It is with great emotion that we will find these artists at the Concert Hall of the Conservatoire on Friday February 10, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. On the program: Dichterliebe (Robert Schumann, op. 48) and other romantic melodies.
Born in Saskatchewan (1972), Nathan Berg studied, among others, at the Guidhall School of Music in London where he won the Gold Medal. Quickly noticed on the international scene, he joined Les arts florissants directed by William Christie in the early 1990s for several seasons. During his brilliant career, he sang for various opera houses, he performed in concerts and recitals addressing various repertoires from Rossini to Wagner and participating in several creations, including Eurydice by Mathieu Aucoin recently conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the MET in New York. In Quebec, he collaborates regularly with Les violons du roy.
