The lyrical grandeur of Chopin’s renowned Nocturnes, Op. 32 No. 2 and Op. 48 No. 1, will immerse you from the very first notes in an intimate and expressive atmosphere. Schubert’s Sonata in C minor, D. 958, a cornerstone of the repertoire, unfolds its full dramatic intensity through its four contrasting movements.
Three of Chopin’s late études alternate dazzling virtuosity with moments of introspection, before Schumann’s rich Carnaval, Op. 9, concludes the recital with a series of vivid character pieces, blending lightness, passion, and whimsy.
A former student of the Orford Music Academy, artist in residence, and regular Festival guest, the remarkable Charles Richard-Hamelin brings the essence of these iconic composers to life, offering an interpretation that is both nuanced and vibrant.
