Comme le souligne le chef d\u2019orchestre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilgiardinoarmonico.com\/giovanni-antonini\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giovanni Antonini<\/a> dans ses notes de programme, les symphonies <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a044<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00ab\u00a0Trauer\u00a0\u00bb et <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a052<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sont \u00ab\u00a0tr\u00e8s peu fun\u00e8bres\u00a0\u00bb. Elles ont n\u00e9anmoins \u00e9t\u00e9 associ\u00e9es au <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Da pacem Domine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> d\u2019Arvo\u00a0P\u00e4rt, une \u0153uvre \u00e9crite en hommage aux victimes de l\u2019attentat terroriste islamiste de Madrid en 2004, ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 la poignante <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paduana Dolorosa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> de Samuel Scheidt. Bien que le chef reconnaisse que ces rapprochements \u00ab\u00a0puissent sembler insolites\u00a0\u00bb, il soutient que ces \u0153uvres remplissent une \u00ab\u00a0fonction cathartique et contemplative\u00a0\u00bb, venant \u00e9quilibrer les aspects plus anim\u00e9s des symphonies de Haydn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Si les notes d\u2019Antonini, accompagn\u00e9es de photographies de trag\u00e9dies, peuvent sembler une tentative quelque peu opaque de justifier la pertinence moderne de Haydn, l\u2019album a n\u00e9anmoins le m\u00e9rite d\u2019avoir g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 une r\u00e9flexion de ma part. Le Haydn que l\u2019on entend sur cet enregistrement ne ressemble \u00e0 aucun autre que j\u2019aie entendu auparavant. J\u2019ai de plus pass\u00e9 plusieurs jours \u00e0 comparer l\u2019approche d\u2019Antonini \u00e0 celle d\u2019autres ensembles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ici, Haydn appara\u00eet comme un v\u00e9ritable dramaturge. L\u2019interpr\u00e9tation est incisive, raffin\u00e9e et pleine de caract\u00e8re. Les tempos rapides et les forts contrastes dynamiques cr\u00e9ent un puissant \u00e9lan, mais la progression de l\u2019\u0153uvre repose avant tout sur les lignes m\u00e9lodiques sup\u00e9rieures. Dans cette approche, les diff\u00e9rentes sections de l\u2019orchestre sont moins unifi\u00e9es. Chacune d\u2019elles agit comme une strate de la texture harmonique, plut\u00f4t que de contribuer \u00e0 un flux collectif parfaitement homog\u00e8ne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cette int\u00e9gration plus r\u00e9duite entre la m\u00e9lodie et l\u2019accompagnement, conjugu\u00e9e aux contrastes marqu\u00e9s entre les sections musicales, rel\u00e8ve d\u2019une approche r\u00e9solument baroque. Elle convient particuli\u00e8rement bien \u00e0 l\u2019intense th\u00e9\u00e2tralit\u00e9 de la musique de Vivaldi. Les enregistrements d\u2019Antonini qui lui sont consacr\u00e9s figurent par ailleurs en t\u00eate de ma liste de favoris. Or, si son interpr\u00e9tation de Haydn est hautement ma\u00eetris\u00e9e et offre un contrepoint saisissant aux lectures plus formellement int\u00e9gr\u00e9es, je n\u2019ai pas eu l\u2019impression qu\u2019elle saisissait pleinement ce qu\u2019il y a de plus remarquable dans la musique de Haydn, \u00e0 savoir l\u2019extraordinaire continuit\u00e9 formelle de son discours musical, m\u00eame au c\u0153ur des contrastes soudains et des traits d\u2019humour musicaux.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traduction\u00a0: Anne Marie Babkine<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HAYDN \/\/ &#039;Symphony No. 44 in E Minor, Hob.
