La d\u00e9cision est venue apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9part en juin 2025 de Jonathan Cohen, qui a dirig\u00e9 l\u2019ensemble depuis la saison 2018-2019. C\u2019est en 1984 que Bernard Labadie a fond\u00e9 Les Violons du Roy. Il est rest\u00e9 leur directeur musical pendant trente ans, jusqu\u2019en 2014. Il a \u00e9galement fond\u00e9 La Chapelle de Qu\u00e9bec en 1985 et reste le chef de ch\u0153ur depuis.
