Massenet lui-m\u00eame a approuv\u00e9 une version pour baryton de sa c\u00e9l\u00e8bre vitrine pour t\u00e9nor \u00e0 la demande du grand baryton italien Mattia Battistini, mais il n\u2019existe aucun autographe de cette partition.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis la cr\u00e9ation de l\u2019op\u00e9ra il y a 130 ans, les arias du personnage-titre comptent parmi les pi\u00e8ces ma\u00eetresses pour t\u00e9nor les plus populaires et les plus enregistr\u00e9es de l\u2019histoire de l\u2019op\u00e9ra. Entendre des airs comme <i>Pourquoi me r\u00e9veiller<\/i> chant\u00e9s par le baryton lyrique grec <a href=\"https:\/\/amo-massis.eu\/en\/artiste\/tassis-christoyannis-2\/\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/amo-massis.eu\/en\/artiste\/tassis-christoyannis-2\/\">Tassis Christoyannis<\/a> peut donc demander une certaine adaptation. Pour certains, l\u2019excitation visc\u00e9rale d\u2019un Jos\u00e9 Carreras ou d\u2019un Jonas Kaufmann qui se d\u00e9cha\u00eenent dans les aigus sera peut-\u00eatre absente. Cependant, la raison d\u2019\u00eatre de cet enregistrement est de se concentrer sur le texte, que Christoyannis interpr\u00e8te avec un art consomm\u00e9. Plus connu pour ses interpr\u00e9tations de m\u00e9lodies fran\u00e7aises (il a enregistr\u00e9 l\u2019\u0153uvre compl\u00e8te de Reynaldo Hahn), le baryton grec s\u2019appuie sur la voix mixte pour transmettre subtilement la personnalit\u00e9 amoureuse et finalement tragique du po\u00e8te.<\/p>\n<p>La soprano fran\u00e7aise <a href=\"\/?p=362847\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/aap5.myscena.org\/fr\/justin-bernard\/eighth-festival-dopera-de-quebec-mozarts-the-magic-flute-revisited-by-robert-lepage\/\">V\u00e9ronique Gens<\/a> prend le r\u00f4le pour mezzo-soprano de Charlotte, l\u2019objet r\u00e9ticent (et mari\u00e9) de l\u2019affection de Werther. Repr\u00e9sentante l\u00e9gendaire du r\u00e9pertoire fran\u00e7ais depuis trois d\u00e9cennies, V\u00e9ronique Gens chante avec son go\u00fbt et son art habituel, m\u00eame si son timbre s\u2019est assoupli au fil des ans.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le r\u00f4le d\u2019Albert, son mari, le baryton Thomas Doli\u00e9 transmet la fermet\u00e9 et le caract\u00e8re bourgeois du personnage. Dans le r\u00f4le de Sophie, la s\u0153ur de Charlotte, la soprano lyrique H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Carpentier (Juliette au Festival d\u2019op\u00e9ra de Qu\u00e9bec 2023) interpr\u00e8te un r\u00f4le traditionnellement chant\u00e9 par une voix beaucoup plus l\u00e9g\u00e8re. Le livret du disque indique qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019une volont\u00e9 de donner plus de maturit\u00e9 au personnage, mais les tonalit\u00e9s de Carpentier et de Gens sont si sombres qu\u2019il peut \u00eatre difficile de les distinguer en duo.<\/p>\n<p>Le baryton canadien Laurent Deleuil incarne Johann et donne \u00e0 ce r\u00f4le bavard et clownesque une dimension verbale claire.
