Se d\u00e9roulant \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al en octobre 1970, l\u2019op\u00e9ra traite de questions puissantes telles que <strong>la crise d\u2019octobre<\/strong>, le <strong>droit \u00e0 l\u2019avortement<\/strong> et le <strong>r\u00f4le du journalisme dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong>. La musique est sign\u00e9e par\u00a0<strong>Tim Brady<\/strong> et le livret par <strong>Mishka Lavigne<\/strong>. Les repr\u00e9sentations auront lieu les <strong>27 et 28 avril 2024 <\/strong>\u00e0 <strong>l\u2019Espace Orange de l\u2019\u00c9difice Wilder. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cinq solistes canadiens<\/strong> seront en vedette\u00a0: la mezzo-soprano <strong>Marie-Annick B\u00e9liveau<\/strong>, le baryton <strong>Pierre Rancourt<\/strong>, le t\u00e9nor <strong>David Menzies<\/strong>, la soprano <strong>Jacqueline Woodley<\/strong> et le baryton <strong>Clayton Kennedy<\/strong>. La mise en sc\u00e8ne sera assur\u00e9e par Anne-Marie Donovan alors que Pascal Germain Berardi dirigera les musiciens.<\/p>\n<p>Ce nouvel op\u00e9ra est le deuxi\u00e8me du cycle intitul\u00e9 <em>Hope (and the Dark Matter of History)<\/em>. Le premier op\u00e9ra du cycle, <em>Backstage at Carnegie Hall<\/em> a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 au Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Centaur, \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, en septembre 2022 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 bien accueilli. Les op\u00e9ras <em>The Mars Project<\/em> (livret d\u2019Alexis Diamond) et <em>Sophia<\/em> (livret d\u2019Yvette Nolan), viendront compl\u00e9ter le cycle dans les prochaines ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Avec ces nouvelles cr\u00e9ations, je veux aborder des probl\u00e8mes sociaux cruciaux tels que le racisme, le contr\u00f4le de l\u2019information, le droit \u00e0 l\u2019avortement, la colonisation de l\u2019espace, les changements climatiques et l\u2019intelligence artificielle\u00a0\u00bb souligne Tim Brady, directeur artistique de Bradyworks.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019histoire d\u2019<em>Information<\/em> se concentre sur la relation entre deux journalistes\u00a0: une jeune anglophone nomm\u00e9e Mary Vance et le journaliste francophone chevronn\u00e9 Sylvain Leclerc. Les deux reporters finissent par collaborer \u00e9troitement \u00e0 la couverture de l\u2019enl\u00e8vement de James Cross par le Front de Lib\u00e9ration du Qu\u00e9bec (FLQ), en octobre 1970, \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. En parall\u00e8le aux \u00e9v\u00e9nements de la crise d\u2019Octobre, Mary vit sa propre crise personnelle puisqu\u2019elle cherche \u00e0 interrompre une grossesse non d\u00e9sir\u00e9e, une proc\u00e9dure ill\u00e9gale \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019op\u00e9ra ram\u00e8ne \u00e9galement le personnage de la voyageuse temporelle pr\u00e9sent dans <em>Backstage at Carnegie Hall. <\/em>Maillon central du cycle <em>Hope<\/em>, elle revient cette fois sous la forme d\u2019une ballerine russe qui esp\u00e8re quitter l\u2019URSS \u00e0 la suite de ses repr\u00e9sentations \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al.
